Dr Ramya S, is an Associate Professor at the Elite School of Optometry (ESO), where she imparts her knowledge to undergraduate and postgraduate optometry students in academics and research. She also serves as a Senior Optometrist at Sankara Nethralaya, Medical Research Foundation, Chennai.
She pursued her undergraduate and postgraduate studies at ESO, Chennai affiliated to BITS Pilani. She obtained her PhD degree at ESO, Chennai in collaboration with SASTRA Deemed to be University, Thanjavur. She has over 14 years of teaching experience and handled/handles various courses such as Ocular Diseases, Low vision care, Research Methodology, Optometric Instrumentation, Ocular Anatomy, Ocular Physiology, Geriatric Optometry, Integrated Clinical Optometry lab and few Optics-related subjects for both undergraduate and postgraduate Optometry students. She also guides them in various clinical projects apart from training optometrists in the electrodiagnostics clinic. With 16 years of clinical expertise, she has seen more than 16,000 patients. Her areas of interest are Low Vision Care, Ocular Electrophysiology, Optical Coherence Tomography and Research Methodology. She has delivered many guest lectures and contributed to book chapters in these fields. In the realm of research, she has authored about 16 articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals.
